Simple measures to reduce the Risk of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) involving computer mouse

If you use computers for long periods of time, either at home, work or both, you can help avoid RSI (repetitive strain injury) by using a right handed mouse at work and a left handed mouse at home or vice versa. It is straightforward to use a mouse with your other hand and alternating between left and right handed mouse usage can help reduce the repetitive use of the same shoulder, arm and finger.

The left and right hand mouse settings can be set by going to the control panel in Windows XP, clicking onto printers and other hardware, and then clicking onto mouse. This will come up with the screen mouse properties. Under the tab buttons, go to button configuration, allowing you to change the mouse from right handed use to left handed use, where the index finger is used to click on the mouse.
